A practical guide to Brick Breaker

Open Brick Breaker, check the instructions and begin a round. Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Single 45-brick layout, three balls.

One thing to notice as you play

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.

What counts as success

Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Work through the instructions

  1. Start the ball.
  2. Move the paddle to intercept it.
  3. Paddle contact changes the outgoing angle.
  4. Restart a remaining ball after a loss.

Keyboard and screen controls

Pointer, arrow keys or held Left/Right. Start / pause and New round are available. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

An example before you play

An edge hit sends the ball at a different angle. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Check the stated objective.

Where a round can go wrong

Track its landing point, not only its current x-coordinate. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
